Within the Italian walled gardens at Arley Arboretum is an impressive fountain in the centre of a octagonal pond.
I noticed a potted plant at the edge of the pond with a shape that mimicked that of the fountain and so I positioned the shot in such as way as to get the plant and the fountain on the ‘thirds’.
At the time the sky was heavily overcast and when I reviewed the shot later on my monitor I was disappointed with the flatness of the colours. I later decided to convert it to monochrome – which I feel provides a better representation of what I saw on the day.
